History Walk:
On the 23rd March we will be heading out on a historical stroll as part of the Heart of Kent Walking Festival. We will saunter from Hollingbourne to what some people call the most beautiful castle in England, Leeds. Along the way we will learn more about the Medieval experience of people who lived and visited this area all those hundreds of years ago. We will learn stories of Pilgrims stopping off for shelter in the shadow of the downs as they make their way to the shrine of Thomas Becket in Canterbury.
History Walk:
On the 25th May we will be strolling from the seaside town of Sandgate to visit the nearby Hythe and Shornecliffe. From the car park we will make our way along the coast and via the Royal Military Canal to Hythe where we will visit the intriguing church of St Leonards. On the way back we will pass through fields and woods to visit Shorncliffe and its military cemetery before descending to Sandgate. Along the way we will hear tales of brave heroes and their love of hermit women, great comedians and a mystery of a room full of bones.
